Wiley served as de Blasio’s counsel for two and a half years, during which time she became known for coining the term “agents of the city” in order to prevent public disclosure of de Blasio’s communications with lobbyists. She worked for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Open Society Institute before being appointed counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2014. Wiley worked in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York’s Civil Division.
